Rating fast foods
An initial round of evaluations from best to worst
1. Shake Shack
Hormone-free beef with humane farming methods; low PFAS.
2. Chipotle
Committed to organic and no-hormone, humanely raised beef and flesh foods. Committed to no PFAS.
3. Sweetgreen
No-pfas and organic greens. A good choice. Some organic ingredients. Nearly 1000 locations in the US including California, Texas, New York, and Florida plus the UK, France, Spain, and India.
4. Chick-fil-A
Grilled chicken with salads make much lower toxin choices. Customers can order the chain’s first organic menu option, Honest Kids Appley Ever After juice drink, as part of the Chick-fil-A Kid’s Meal in restaurants nationwide.
5. BurgerFi
No hormones, humanely raised, no-PFAS. Drive-throughs too. Popular in the south. Great choice.
6. El Pollo Loco
Uses some organic ingredients, offers wide range of Mexican food favorites that cut way down on chemical toxins.
7. White Castle
Dreary but for its plant-based Impossible Slider with a dairy-free cheddar cheese alternative, which is going to be much healthier than an all beef quarter pounder. No published standards for PFAS, humane animal treatment, or use of synthetic hormones in the supply chain.
8. Wendy’s
Their commitments ring hollow since they use antibiotic- and hormone-treated flesh foods and have partnered with pro-industry groups as a method of greenwashing instead of bringing in more balanced and publicly minded nonprofits.
9. Burger King
No organic policy, does not use hormone-free beef.
10. Carl’s Junior
Beef from hormone-implanted cattle. Offers grilled chicken sandwiches. No decent alternatives to fries.
11. In-N-Out
No organics, no stated policy on humane animal treatment.
12. McDonald’s
Total suspension of values including healthy children and humane farm animal treatment.
